My dear Genl
I would have earlier thanked Mrs Mahone & yourself for your kind invitation to your house, but have only today ascertained that it will be in my power to visit Petersburg upon the occasion to which you allude. Unless therefore some unforeseen circumstance should prevent it will give me great pleasure to stay with you while I am in Petersburg & I anticipate great gratification in seeing Mrs Mahone, yourself & my other friends in the city. I shall probably not reach Petersburg until the afternoon of the 28th of Nov-
